Project Description
Cindy Kallet has been happily teaching guitar lessons at the Art Sanctuary for several years, and in New England and Bloomington for many years prior to that. She has performed extensively throughout North America, appearing on both A Prairie Home Companion and WFMT’s Folkstage, and has taught at numerous music camps for adults, including Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and California Coast Music Camp. She has recorded 11 albums and published a songbook of 32 of her original songs. Her first album, Working on Wings to Fly, was voted one of the “Top 100 Folk Albums of the [last] Century” by WUMB Boston radio listeners, and Kallet’s Leave the Cake in the Mailbox – Songs for Parents and Kids Growing Up was chosen for a 2004 Parents’ Choice Gold Award. These days, Cindy performs most frequently with Grey Larsen. Cindy and Grey also help host the Open Mic Series at the Art Sanctuary, which takes place on the second Friday of most months.
Scott Alarik of The Boston Globe calls Cindy “…one of folk music’s most respected songwriters… provocative, heartwise, and original …a brilliant guitarist…”
