Dorene Page
Dorene PageStudio 102A

Dorene Page is an artist and writer from Martinsville, IN. She has two amazing grown children, and one grandchild. She attended Indiana Business College and Indiana University. Upon graduation she worked in accounting for ten years. Dorene decided to put her creativity and love of children together and open a licensed childcare with a hands-on art based curriculum. She is now a full time artist and writer. Dorene works in fiber arts as a weaver and spinner, is a mixed media and assemblage artist and advocate of journaling and art journaling. She has had her poetry and essays published in national magazines.

Dorene Page teaches mixed media and art journaling classes. She loves using what is around her instead of investing lots of money in art supplies. Her weaving is rag rugs made from fiber that would otherwise be discarded such as factory mill ends. Even though the fiber arts are a very old and traditional craft, she likes to work in modern styles and colors, adding a twist to an art form from a more simple time. Her mixed media and assemblage includes ephemera from days of old combined with new techniques and vivid colors. Dorene’s most popular classes are Beginning Art Journaling and Art Journaling on a Budget(from the junk drawer to the hardware store-Art Journaling doesn’t have to be expensive). She believes that everyone has an artist in them.

Dorene is also forming a preschool age art class. Each class she will read a story and then do an art project that is related to the story, but open ended enough to encourage creativity and individuality in the children while they experiment with different art supplies and techniques.
