Project Description

Mark Warpenburgh
Mark WarpenburghStudio 204

With the influence of 3D in TV and Movies and a second love of Sculpture, I chose to go to the next logical step for myself. I construct armatures and attach them to the surface and sides of my standard stretchers. Some of the works require extra construction and reinforcement. Materials I use to prepare my surfaces include wood, PCV pipe, plastic tubing, canvas, bits of “junk”, and sculpting media to help blend the surfaces. I stretch canvas over all surfaces, prime heavy and paint with oil. My work is inspired by nature and life using alterations of scale and perspective. My goal is to create a painting to allow the viewer to see a different aspect of beauty they may have overlooked. To inspire them to research further the dangers of the delicate balance we threaten to destroy.
Contrary to advice from my peer Artists, the Art Educator in me comes out. I post “secrets of my work”, construction photos of my art in progress on my Facebook page 3D Cubed Painting. I would consider it a great honor for other Artists to copy my style.
